Questions and Answers Aug 27

Nancy asked:
You seem to have it all together about blogging so I have a question about that! Is there a way to note a post that I want to remember besides saving things on Favorites on the top row (File Edit...)? I read all the great posts and sometimes I want to remember where a recipe is or an idea that I can't do just yet. I have also been "starring" but will those posts remain there? Thanks-sad how little I know! Have a great day!

Cheri's reply:
Nancy-you are too kind. I am still learning myself but enjoy helping other people reap the benefits from the info I have acquired. I have read several books-from the library-is that THRIFTY or what. I google a lot of info, if I need some info immediately and if I just could not find the info I would ask someone who has been at this longer than me-many of them are still learning as well, so you may gain some info one one topic and other info from someone else. I don't know if this is shocking to you or not but my blog turned 3 months old this month. I do have a family blog that I have had for about a year but I didn't need to know all that I have needed on this blog-so I have learned all of this in the last 3 months and there is still so much I have notes down that I need to research, learn and add but I just do it as the situation arises or when I have time to gather info. I know each time I research something there is always some phrase or word that makes me take note to discover what it is. The star is great and I believe that info will stay there until you remove it. I did some research and there are some things I would have to do more research on but the star is a great thing. You could also open a word doc and copy and paste the URL.

If any one has better solutions feel free to jump in.

Joy Beadworks asked:
Ok, I'll take the bait: Why do all of your kid's names start with G? I have 2 G's and 2 M's. AND, my boys each have 2 middle names!

Original question: What is your favorite thing to do when you have 3 hours of Cheri Time?

Cheri's reply:
I never had a plan to name my children with the same first letter. I had always loved our first son's name-even before I was married. When my husband and I were engaged and talking about the future and children I asked him about this name and he really liked it-so it was settled we had our first boy name. We both liked different girl names though and neither started with a G. We went through infertility issues and were married 8 years and had lost a baby before we had our first son. I got pregnant with our 1st live birth son, 6 weeks after going on some herbs and vitamins-fertility drugs just weren't working. We were married almost 8 years before he was born. When he was 4 months old we had the SHOCK of our lives-I was pregnant. Our first 2 boys are a year and 10 days apart. My pregnancy was different in many ways and I thought it might be a girl, my doctor thought it might be a girl because of how I was carrying this one and the heart rate-so we were trying to decide on a girls name and hadn't really thought much about another boy name. One night another boy name popped into my head and I said -right then-"Oh, what do you think of this name? I like the sound of the 2 boy names together". My husband liked it but that was pretty much the extent of it until the following week when I went for my sonogram and found out we were having another boy and my husband leaned over and talked to my stomach and said "Hi G....." and that was it. He called him by that name from there on out. We lost another baby before having our 3rd son and by then our boys were big enough to have opinions and said he had to have a G name as well. We were tossing around names. G1 liked one name and G2 liked another. All of the G's are a hard G sound. We ended up combining the 2 names that G1 and G2 liked, to create G3's name. We thought we were done but when Miss G4 arrived the boys said she would have to have a G name as well to complete the G-Force (the nick name they have given themselves). Girl G names are hard but we settled on one that fits her perfectly. (On a side note-I thought pregnancy 2 was different and it was but I was so terribly sick with all 3 boys- and not sick a single day with my girl-so that is the real difference.)

3 hours of Cheri time is RARE these days. My husband is in school plus working. I home school so the kids are home all day long. In the car, the kids are almost ALWAYS with me. A couple of weeks ago, when I was so sick my husband took the kids to run some errands so I could sleep for a couple of hours but I don't think that counts. When we lived in the Kansas City area I enjoyed being in a BUNKO group that met once a month and that was always fun. BUT If I had everything done in the house that needed done and I could do anything I wanted for 3 hours-it would depend on my mood-I might stay home and work on a project that needed done with out the help of 2 little ones or I might go out looking for some good deals at some of my favorite shops. I probably wouldn't just sit around and read -- I like to be on the go.

I like to know when you're planning a trip to Miami so we can have lunch or brunch

Cheri's reply:
That sounds really fun. Maybe once my hubby is finally done with school we can do that since we are so close. I would love to meet for lunch some time.

Maggie asked:

Hi Cheri, thanks for visiting Normandy on Metamorphis Monday, I'm only now getting back to everyone, it's been a hectic week.
Here's my question.
What time did you get out of the Doctor's office?
Keep in touch.
Maggie

Cheri's reply:
I didn't look at the exact time. He was so backed up that he spent, maybe 15 min-TOPS in the room talking to me and then was outta there to his next patient. I looked at the clock not long after leaving the office and I would have gotten out of the doctors office around 1:00 or 1:15 with a 9:45am appointment time.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading each and every comment. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I wish I could sit and chat with each of you face to face, sipping on an ice cold lemonade (in the hotter months) or a nice hot cup of coffee (in the colder months), getting to know each other but this is fun too.
