*** We are thinking Google may have changed some things and it is messing up peoples accounts who signed up before the change was made. I am not doing this to get followers-try this sign up as a follower and then go in through my followers page and see if you can click on yours and if there is a LINK to get to your page. If you don't want to follow after that fine-I'd love to have you but I just want people to see what is going on here so you can fix your followers as well.
Update #3-this all started with Reid. Her info isn't showing on my blog. She went to another blog and sent me an e-mail letting me know all of her info is on the other blog. Can everyone look at your followers page and if I am on there let me know if you see the picture of Prince Charming and me on the back of my Mustang - on our wedding day and if it has my name-cheri peoples or my blog Its So Very Cheri beside it. Then click on it and tell me if it takes you to a page of all the blogs I follow and if there is a LINK area where you can click and get to my blog--THANK YOU.
Another Update-So now I am driving other people in sane, but at least I know I am not going bananas by myself. Jennie sent this e-mail:
Ok, now I'm thoroughly irritated too! I've just spent an hour trying to figure this out! When you click my profile (Jennie) in your follower box it shows the 'about me' from my blog, my url, all the sites I follow, etc. But when I click my mom's profile (Songberries) it doesn't show any of her info or pic, just the other sites she follows. What the heck? I am SO confused. It must be something about the Blogger settings, because that is the only place I have that 'about me'. But I hacked into her account (sorry mom) and her settings are all exactly the same as mine! Aaaaaarrrrrrgggggg! Let me know if you get it figured out, just so my brain doesn't explode ;) Good luck!
Update to a few questions for future suggestions so I am not re-addressing the same things.
1. I do realize not everyone has a blog but some of the people on my list-I KNOW have a blog.
2. YES-I always access from my dash board-didn't know there was another way to access it and check on people.
I have this fun little contest going on just to see if we can hit 200 followers by the 31st and if we do I am putting all of my followers into a drawing for a fun fall give-a-way freebie. Here is a little sneak preview of part of the gift. I told you it was cute. We are at 179 followers so we have 21 more to go, which isn't impossible. I had 20 followers added one day, about a week ago. Are you a follower? Do you enjoy visiting? Then become a follower. If we get to 200 by tomorrow night I will do a drawing for all of my followers.
So I have been trying to get people to contact me if I am not on their follower list-WHY-because there are so many of you I can not get to. There are 43 out of 179 of my followers (that's 1/4 of my followers) whose accounts are set up in such a way that I can not get to you from my followers page. Some of you I have found-you may have e-mailed me and I recognized something that reminded me that you were a follower and so I clicked on your blog name from the e-mail. Most of you probably assume, like I did that your account was set up just fine. I began wondering, how mine appears so I asked a follower to go check. She was contacting me to let me know she was a follower of mine but I was not on her list.
I had installed my picture and have my account set up as Its So Very Cheri in just about every place I can have it -- so I thought people were probably getting the new picture and Its So Very Cheri besides it, but NOT SO. She responded that I have a silhouette picture and it just says cheri peoples.
I searched to see what I could have done wrong, but I am coming up with very little info on Google searches-I have a picture in my Google account and I have pictures loaded in 2 places on my blog info. So what am I and many others not doing when we set up our accounts. I want people to be able to click and find me-don't you?
There are a variety of problems I have with the way accounts are set up and how they appear on my followers page that prevent me from getting to you. I am going to go over these so if anyone has any helpful suggestions that I can post and even use to fix my account -I would appreciate it.
I AM ACCESSING FROM THE DASHBOARD
Problem #1-Some of my followers have a picture (GREAT-they have mastered something I have not yet figured out--so tell me how you did it.) and I can click on their picture but when it takes me to their info, it shows blogs they follow but nothing about their blog. I had a brand new follower this morning and this was the case with her account, luckily she had left me an e-mail so I went back to my e-mail and was able to click on her blog name and find her, otherwise I would have been out of luck.
Problem #2-Sometimes there is a blog name but no picture and if I had time to search them all I might be able to find some of them. I have tried to find some with no success. I think I found one this morning but of course I have to leave a message asking if I am at the right place because there is no picture on my follower page and so I don't know for sure. DO you see my dilemma in all the extra time it takes to try and find some of you? I really do want to come for a visit.
Problem #3-Sometimes there is no blog name, no picture just your name and no way to click on anything. I might have 3 Sheila's with no other info. I don't know what blog you belong to so even if you leave me a comment I have no idea which Sheila you are and if you are even one of my followers or another Sheila coming for a visit. I am getting , on average between 300 and 500 plus visitors each day. DO you see my dilemma in trying to find you?
Problem #4-Some people have their info listed as something totally different than their blog name and I have finally figured out who they are, that is why I know the info is so different but it makes it extra hard to find these people. For Example someone has no picture but there is a title in the area: (this is just an example) Debbie from Main Street but when I finally get to visit the blog, (usually because Debbie contacted me and left me a message) the blog name is (just another fictional example) I Love Cozy Little Towns. These make it extra tricky.
Problem #5-And then there is the list of people who have a silhouette of some dudes head and shoulders-some of these have a person's name, some have a blog name, some have a code name and number combination, some have initials, some have who knows what.
Problem #6-Goggle does the appearing and disappearing act-sometimes your picture is there and sometimes it isn't, when it's not there, I can not click to come for a visit. It is really hard to remember who I could get to and who I couldn't when the pictures changed all the time--so you could have your account set up PERFECTLY but it is a Google issue. If you haven't gotten a visit from me to sign up as a follower please leave me a comment with your blog name so I can come for a visit.
Problem #7-Sometimes I get an e-mail from someone and there is not a blog name to click to come over for a visit.
**PLEASE check updates at the very top of this post to see what has been tried or is already being done...
If I had time to search for hours on end I might be able to find a handful, UNFORTUNATELY I don't have that kind of time. I now know my account isn't right either. I am trying to get mine corrected and help everyone else get theirs fixed as well so people can find you easier.
I had one person e-mail me explaining the follower box on the side panel and all I had to do was click it, she didn't understand that I was letting her know I couldn't do that from my follower section. Just to clear up any confusion--I do know how to click the follower button once I find your blog-it's a matter of finding you.
So if any of you have any helpful hints. I will post the info so others can fix their accounts as well. If you want to touch base and ask if I can get to your account-that would be great because you might have an account set up PERFECTLY and be able to tell us how everything is set up so we can follow your lead.
MckLinky will be up this afternoon for the Knock Off Knock Out party. Don't forget we have a new party starting Wed as well-Grab the buttons.
I have tried getting to all 179 visitors-so if I haven't been there it is because of one of the problems up above

hmmm...yikes! those are a lot of problems!
ReplyDeletejust in case...I will leave me info here:
site: (warning: I was clueless when I signed up for an account, thought my url had to be what my title for my blog would be...had I known better, I would have chosen something much, much shorter!haha)

Blessings & Aloha!
Hope you get your 200!
problem #1 Not all of my followers have blogs. In my dashboard, it will show all their info. Somtimes it only shows the blogs they follow, meaning they don't have a blog themselves.
ReplyDeleteproblem #2 If you check your followers from your dashboard, it may make it easier to find them.
problem #3 Maybe if someone only chooses to leave their name, they don't want you to find them... I dunno... just guessing! :)
problem #4 I'follow you, but it looks like you don't follow me, wondering if I'm one you can't find? ;) You have commented on my blog, so I know you've been there.
problem #5 I have no idea! :)
problem #6 see #5
problem #7 Peole! if you send an e-mail sign it with your name, and you blog name and url. :)
my 2 cents! lol
good luck getting everything all sorted out!

Do you get the same problem if you access the followers from your dashboard?
ReplyDeleteAmy
I think that maybe you tried to become a follower of my blog, but it didn't work? I have one follower that doesn't have a picture and the name is just a period mark? I hope my site isn't one that you are having problems with.
ReplyDeleteI am an faithful follower : O ) Check and see if I am on your list and that you can email me.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, your blog is better and better every week.

ReplyDeleteI have problem #1 with followers on my blog. Oh and I know you have commented on my blog but don't think you follow my blog.
ReplyDeleteI'll be linking up to your party on Monday!!!

maybe some people are following publicly, and others privately?

Cheri, Thanks for visiting my blog again. My second giveaway starts Tuesday FYI.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I see you have/had a Mustang too. :O)
Sorry you are having all these issues. Try going in from the dashboard to see if that helps.
ReplyDeleteHi, Cheri, I did get the starfish pic this week, thanks so much. Not sure where I'll put it yet, but I will figure that out.

ReplyDeleteCheri I don't know how to help you other than I too have noticed some people choose to have their profiles hidden from view. Then unless they leave you a comment you cannot access their blog. It can be frustrating at times because you do want to leave them a return comment or follow them as well but cannot. Sigh. :)
ReplyDeleteGood Luck! I hope it all gets fixed for you. Your blog is looking good and you have a huge amount of frinds aka followers! You go girl!
I'll try your new button okay.
~Blessings, ~Melissa :)
Hi Cheri,
ReplyDeleteI did get my picture! Thank you - it's lovely! I'm looking for the perfect frame for it and when I do I'll be sure to post it.
I really don't click on my follower thingie. I figure if you want to follow that's lovely but I don't really have time to go to every single person constantly. Some people have over 1000 followers. I can't imagine them having the time to click on every one and visit. Besides some people just like to view a blog and not comment and I'm fine with that! I do it all the time too.
Manuela
Her's a tip for you. If you take away the approval feature on the comments it WILL increase your comments from visitors. Just my 2 cents. :)
ReplyDeleteCheri I did try and I'm so sorry to say but your new button does not work on my blog at all.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a blank spot.
I know it must be frustrating to work on them and then they do not work.
Love you button. I will post it on my blog this week. I now have a button too help yourself if you wold like to add it to yours :)
ReplyDeleteit does say "it's so very cheri"
ReplyDeleteon my dashboard, it shows all your info.
the girl on your blog, may have joined one blog publicly and the other privately.
good luck!
thanks!

This following/follower situation is driving me nuts, too. I will click to follow someone and my picture does not appear. So they don't know that I am following them.
ReplyDeleteI have one inappropriate follower who I don't want following me. I don't know how to block him without making my whole blog private.
I used to put all the folks I followed on my blog roll, but it got to be to large, so I deleted it and just use my dashboard.
I did one thing that made life a little bit easier. I set up a gmail account dedicated to the exclusive use of my blog. Then I had changed my settings so I would be emailed my comments. I can click on the link to their blog profile and open up their post to leave a reply comment. However, not everyone has a hyper link to their blog, but most do.
Hi Cheri,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this is helpful to know but there is a setting on each person's profile where they can choose rather to make their profile public or keep it private. There is also a setting on each person's profile where they can choose which of their blogs, if any, to make visible or list on their profile. Try this. I always access my dashboard by clicking the orange "B" in the upper left hand corner when I'm on my blog. Once at the dashboard, I see some choices beside my pic...and one of those choices is "Edit profile." When I click on "edit profile" I see a bunch of choices...one choice is whether to "share my profile" with others and another choice is whether to "show my blogs that I have or not." Maybe the folks who info you cannot access have the settings on their profile set in such a way that noone can see their profile and/or no one can see the names of their blogs. They may not have it set that way intentionally...but that may be the problem...not sure.
One more thing, make sure you are actually "signed in" to blogger when you are attemtping to view someones profile...just to make sure it isn't that...doubt that's it, though. I don't know if this helps. If it doesn't, it's a mystery to me.
Susan
Oh...and as one person did mention...some followers don't have blogs.
