How to make a Tassel Tutorial--Cheri Style, a FAUX caramel apple tutorial, 4 more WINNERS, and the KNOCK OFF party and more

I am so excited to show you fun DIY projects.  I am so excited that it is almost time to decorate for Christmas--My birthday is Christmas Day and I just love the season.  I love creating the magic for my kids.

I want to share a really fun tutorial--2 tutorials all wrapped up in one post.
CRAZY ME--

I finished this project the night I was packing to go back to Missouri.  Then the next morning, at 5 am, as my husband was loading the car with 14 pieces of luggage,(yah it takes a lot of luggage for 6 people to travel), I made my daughter a hair bow, in about 5 minutes flat, to go with her cute outfit for the wedding--then she took it out of her hair and left it at the church.  Hopefully my mother-in-law gets it back, that is if someone turned it in.

What is the Knock Off Knock Out party?

You see something you like, it can be at a friends house, a magazine or your favorite store but it is over priced and so you Knock it off and make it look so amazing it is a Knock Out. It doesn't have to be exact. You may be inspired by something but the colors are wrong so you change it and do a knock off that fits your style and color and it is a Knock Out. Maybe you have something at a restaurant and re=create it and it is amazing you just had a Knock Off Knock Out moment, share those with us. If you have a picture of the original great, if not just share about it.

How do you join?

**You need to create a post about your item. (I suggest opening 2 browser windows so you can go back and forth-it just goes faster.) THE  TUTORIAL:

The Faux Candy Apple:

I took a faux apple

and applied hot glue over it, letting it drizzle down.  I started at the top of the apple and made one continuous line of glue. (Make sure your glue gun is really hot before you start.)

Next time I wouldn't go down quite as far--if I could help it, so more of the red apple showed for contrast--but hey it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful right.  Once I had it drizzled all over the apple, I pulled out my caramel colored paint and applied a coat of paint and let it dry.

Then I applied another coat of paint.  My final step was to apply a coat of Modge Podge to give it a shiny appearance.  The paint alone was too dull.

THE TASSEL TUTORIAL:

My Faux candy apple was done so now I needed to make my tassel.  I used things I had in the house already, the next time I might do more loops on my ribbon or add more fringe and tassels but overall I am happy with how it came out.

I took a jar lid

and began hot gluing ribbon to it

I had already heat sealed the ends of all my ribbon so they wouldn't fray.

Then started layering my ribbon until I was happy with the look.  I had punched those holes in the lid, in case I needed to pull ribbon through the middle but didn't need to do that, so that would not be a necessary step.

I then covered the bottom (I am calling the bottom the part of the jar that has the words on it-that would be considered the top of the jar when putting it back on your jar of food, but it will be the bottom of your tassel--does that make sense?) with coordinating material, tucking it under and gluing it in place.

I added tassels and fur to cover any evidence of a jar lid.  Hot glued the ribbon to the top and some final touches. It has been hanging for 3 weeks and still looks as good as the day I made it.  If you thought your kiddos might hang on it or pull on it you might want to add a small hook screw that is glued in--I would recommend gorilla glue if you do this step.  you would start by drilling a small hole, then before screwing in the hook screw add gorilla glue to the threads of the screw and screw it in place.

Easy Peasy and you are done--now you can make as many tassels as you want for every season.
