Ham or Turkey?

Do you fix Ham or Turkey for Christmas?
(there are 3 separate posts tonight)
Yesterday we had chicken for our Christmas dinner.  We have never had chicken for our Christmas dinner.  I had bought a turkey and a ham.My sister and brother-in-law were planning on coming but wouldn't get here till tomorrow.  I had a big turkey so we could have a Christmas meal with them and then their plans changed and they were not able to leave to come down here. No big deal we will save it and eat it for another time.

I ran to the grocery store to get the last of the items I needed, on Monday Dec 21.  I grabbed a ham for Christmas dinner.  I came straight home and it went into the freezer again.  We pulled the ham out Dec 24th and as it was thawing we noticed it had an odd color to it.  It didn't have that normal pink color to it, but thought maybe it would look better as it thawed more.  It sat in the refrigerator but Christmas morning it was a nasty beige color, then we noticed that the GOOD TIL date on it was DEC 24. I had just bought it 3 days before. No one wanted to risk food poisoning so we got out chicken and had chicken for our Christmas dinner.  I need to take it back to the store, I can't believe they had it out with only a few days left --I was in a hurry and shopping with 4 kids and didn't look at the date.  Oh well we had a great day.  I hope you did too.

I am clicking Publish, with my fingers crossed, hoping this goes through.

  3. We always have ham on Thanksgiving and a standing rib roast (prime rib) on Christmas. This year, my mom special ordered it from a butcher instead of just getting one from the grocery store. SO WORTH IT!! It was soooo good!

  4. We had a huge spread by request, which I will never do a "request" menu again. This is what I ended up cooking ham with honey & pineapple, prime rib, lobster ravioli, mushroom and sausage dressing, collard greens, mashed potatoes, rice with broccoli and Parmesan cheese, Parker rolls and spicy sausage and potato soup. Thank goodness i refused to make a turkey which was requested as well.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading each and every comment. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I wish I could sit and chat with each of you face to face, sipping on an ice cold lemonade (in the hotter months) or a nice hot cup of coffee (in the colder months), getting to know each other but this is fun too.
