I have been CRAZY busy this week.
My Google is still messed up. I have people still come by and are surprised when I visit because I don't show up in their reader. I have a give-a-way going on for a month of free advertising on my blog and all you need to do is do two different posts about a project of mine that you like--click on the button on the left to read more. I am extending it till the 30th because my Google is so messed up and a lot of people are just learning about it.
I have been working on getting by to everyone's blog to get buttons on my blog page. If you do not see your button let me know and I will come by and grab it.
I have gotten some amazing deals recently. I got a couple of tables for FREE-free is always good and I have been working on them today, trying to get them finished to show off. I got 4 yes 4 side chairs--for an AMAZING DEAL. They were $2.99 a piece and half off. I could not believe no one had grabbed them.. Yes they are pitiful looking but the bones of the chairs are good. I have a project I will be working on to get them done this week.
I did a guest blog over at Making the World Cuter and did a lamp tutorial.
It is my PB knock off. I am going to show you what I did.
The other day I was in a thrift shop and saw this:
The other day I was in a thrift shop and saw this:
and just had to get it.
Do you remember this post that I did?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I posted some of the things I would love to have. I love an eclectic decorating style.
* * * * *
Here is one of those items on my list:

So when I saw this lamp at a thrift shop my mind immediately flashed to a post I had done showing some of my favorite things.
You can find that post right here:
(you should check it out there are some seriously cute things in that post.)Here is one of the items I listed from Pottery Barn but the price was more than I was willing to pay. After all it is a LAMP. I just can't see a need to pay so much for items. I have plenty of other places my money can go.

Isn't it so cute?
I just loved it, so I drooled all over the computer and that is never good if you want to keep your computer from shorting out.BACK to seeing this in the Thrift Shop:

(Look past the fact that the lamp shade is not the right size.)
It was a mirrored glass lamp. A lady commented on how cute it was and what a great find. As I was checking out I saw her watching me and then she left. I think she was just waiting to see if I put it back.
It was mirrored glass and I wanted to paint it, the quickest and easiest way was to cover it with Modge Podge and tissue paper.
(by the way I wish I had done a second layer of tissue paper--just for durability)

I hope you aren't gasping, thinking I am a lunatic.
I KNOW, the lamp was cute before but I promise it is not going to look like a pumpkin in
the end.
AND I PROMISE IT IS
SUPER CUTE
I didn't care that the tissue paper did not match, it would be painted over.
I got out my craft paints and mixed 4 colors together. I didn't want a stark black so I mixed black, brown, gray and blue together. Then I painted over the entire lamp.

I let it dry over night and the next morning I printed off the numbers 52 in Claredon font.

I sized it to 350 and printed them off, cut them out and Modge Podged them to my new lamp.
Then I painted over the black printers ink in a khaki.

I dry brushed some of the gray over the 2 letters to give it a little more of a worn look.
Why the number 52?

I just like the shape of the numbers.
Pottery Barn had 28 and I didn't want it to be exact but it sure did come out cute and I think it is a great Knock Off.
I just love it.
(except I think I need to add some distress ink to the numbers)
So what do you think?
Does it pass?

Now I have an idea for the lampshade so watch for that project tutorial soon.

Sweet project! I noticed that your text on your blog is rather large. I have read around the blogosphere about bad html codes and viral codes in html. Maybe that has something to do with it? Still love having you in my reader!
