New Party Announcement--DIY fall decorating project, poll results, a yummy Olive Pesto Pasta recipe

I added the video collage of a few of the projects we have done and they make you pick music. I have the volume down on the actual video, so it doesn't come on but I don't know if it comes on with the music or without-let me know. I don't want music on my blog and if it is coming on automatically I need to see if there is a way to turn it off or use a different program but I think it is fun to see just a few of the things we have done.

I added all of the new buttons I created on the side bar for you to grab and add to your blog. You may notice that there is a button that says Celebrate the Holidays. I am going to be starting another party that will be on Wed., each week. I love decorating and fixing special treats for each holiday or season and I bet there are a lot of you who would love to showcase your holiday/seasonal themes as well. Let's start it this coming Wed. Sept 2. MARK YOUR CALENDARS. Fall is quickly approaching and everyone is going to be changing out their themes. You can post a current, or past theme or a tasty treat that you fix during this time of year--maybe a soup that you don't want to have during the hot summer months or a special cookie. I can't wait to see what everyone's creative juices bring forth. Both parties have always been part of my plan but I wanted to get one off the ground before starting the 2nd one and thought it was best to start this one once fall was just around the corner. I have had so many positive comments on the 2 posts about all the fall colors and decor ideas-so many people love fall and decorating for it so I think this is the perfect time to start this party. Grab the button and I really appreciate it, if you spread the word about bot of my new parties.

I was working on new blog buttons yesterday and some other projects to make things run a little smoother on the blog. One more BIG project to get done. Any way my post for yesterday got posted really late so if you didn't see it you might want to go take a look. This was the real inspiration but it was late and I was tired and didn't download the camera till this morning.

Well the polls are closed. I sound like a reporter after a big election, don't I? You guys are the best. I hope you have fun when you are here. I want to inspire you and make this the funnest blog on the block. I LOVE reading your comments and questions.

It looks like the G-force will stay in tack and I will still call them G1, G2, G3 and G4. I had a picture up of the kids but my hubby thought maybe it should come down but maybe I will put it back up and have the phrase "My kids- The G-force (G1, G2, G3, G4)" so people who haven't been a part of this process know they are my kids. I will talk to Prince Charming about it.

So have you just been about to go nuts all week, NEEDING to know what to call the fly swatter so you are up on the latest trends? The real name of the fly swatter-did I pick some good choices or what? The funny thing is Haumbo Laumbo got the least votes and although it is NOT what he calls a fly swatter he does use that name for several things. The Critter Getter came in first place, as far as votes go, and if you picked the Critter Getter - you did NOT choose the right one. The Buginator came in 2nd place and if you picked The Buginator you did NOT pick the right one. The REAL name for the fly swatter is the WINGER DINGER so be sure and call it by it's correct name from now on. I would LOVE to hear back from everyone as to what went through your head as you picked up your Winger Dinger for the first time-after reading this. Did you think about the poll or it's new name-did it make you smile or chuckle a little--just imagine living here.

I had someone contact me about doing a room service-makeover for their living space. She is taking pictures to e-mail me and I am so excited to take this one on. It will be a challenge but I love a challenge. It stretches me.

Would you like a quick, tasty recipe?

This recipe is so simple and yet it tastes so good. It's great cold so you can take it to a party and it has just a few ingredients so it is a thrifty side dish.

Olive Pesto Pasta
1 large (@16 oz.)can of black olives, drained
1 jar (@ 10 oz.) of green olives
2 fresh cloves of garlic, pressed
1/4 C first pressed olive oil
1 box of whole wheat pasta, cooked and drained

In a food processor place the green and black olives until they are chopped up into a fine texture. I use my garlic press to press the garlic and then add it in to the pasta with the olive pesto and olive oil. Toss everything together and serve either warm or chilled. Oh it is so yummy.

OK, so what happens when you are doing multiple tasks at the same time and waiting for the paint to dry on a project?

I forgot to take a before picture of this sign-it was so ugly. I painted the first coat of paint and went to do some other things. I came back and Miss G4 was so proud of what she had created for me. You should have seen the sweet smile on her face as she said "I made it for you Mama". She had used ink pen, crayon and magic marker. What is a Mom to do but give her a great big hug and say "Thank You, it is beautiful". So I repainted it and am still working on what it but this is where I am so far:

**UPDATE: I am trying to get some visits done. I stopped by Susie's blog and she posted about the bird nest she won from me. I love her signs.

I was in bed, last night in the weee hours of the morning-awake and was thinking about a cute project idea. That is when THRIFTY meets Creative Sensation and a lot of ideas happen for me.

I had someone post a comment that some of my links on the side bars aren't working. I am working on the blog and trying to get some things moved around and a menu bar under my header and as I get all of that done I will recheck them all. At one time everything was correct-I don't know what is up with Google lately but I have had some blog buttons disappear as well as lots of peoples pictures and mine too coming and going. Bear with me as I get it all cleaned up.

We are in rainy season, here in Florida. What does that mean-it means it rains just about every day for several months. When it rains it is different here than in the Midwest. It's not all gray and dreary for days on end. Sometimes it is gray while it is raining and other times the sun is shining while it is raining. It usually doesn't rain until mid to late afternoon and it lasts about 3-4 hours and then it clears up and is hot, humid and sunny. Everything dries up and you can't even tell it rained. It makes getting in the pool difficult, though. Rainy season also means lots of mosquitoes. There are 2 kinds of mosquitoes here-regular old mosquitoes and salt water mosquitoes. You put stuff down to get rid of the mosquitoes but the rain washes most of it away. Since it rains, just about every day, you don't have an opportunity for it to sit and kill those nasty beasts and because it rains every day it is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. They are huge-GINORMOUS!! I have decided Florida needs to change their state bird to the Mosquito.

If you sign up as a follower I will come do the same thing. I have been to visit everyone I could out of the 177 followers that have signed up so far--so if you check your follower list and I am not there-leave me a comment and a blog name to come visit so I can find you. I did add a picture so I should be easier to find. If I hit 200 followers by the 31st I have a gift and only my followers names will be in the drawing.
Have a lovely Saturday

  1. Cheri,

Thanks! I've added the "I was featured on It's So Very Cheri" button to my blog. However, in the button code you have posted on your blog, the \ at the beginning of the image tag needs to be removed. Otherwise, the image won't appear when people copy and paste it on their blog.

  5. You sure are a industrious girl. I got to see some of your projects, since I have not been a blogger long. It was good to see the ones done before I came on. I appreciate the smaller knock off day button. Looking forward to the holiday season. I am doing 4 sets of my four funky chicken discs and 2 large framed roosters for my kids for Christmas.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading each and every comment. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I wish I could sit and chat with each of you face to face, sipping on an ice cold lemonade (in the hotter months) or a nice hot cup of coffee (in the colder months), getting to know each other but this is fun too.
