More great Fall Pumpkin Ideas, The Free Give-a-way "Celebrating the Home" Winner, The Sweater Pumpkins & Its So Very Cottagey

Debi's blog  is always so fun each time I go for a visit.  I wanted to make sure she got credit for the adorable sweater pumpkins that were one of my favorites on Thursday.  You will have to go check out her PINK pumpkins. She gives a great Tutorial on how to make them. I will have to make some PINK pumpkins for Miss G4's room because what else besides white would go in an all white and pink Shabby chic  room. Debi, sorry for not giving you the proper credit in the first post.

The winner of the Celebrate the Home Give-A-Way is The Whispering Creek House.  Congrats on a lovely gift.

Tamara left a couple of messages for you gals:

If you missed the ITS SO VERY COTTAGEY home tour yesterday-you missed a treat.  I got so mnay great comments.  I think everyone had so much fun and I look forward to many more.  I told Rachelle, I am so glad the very first tour was of an adorable little cottage, so more of you will be encouraged to participate.  Your home doesn't have to be huge and decorated with the finest of the fine items but if it is that is fun to look at as well.  I would love to have a variety-large homes, small homes, and in everything in between.  I'd love to have cabins, lake homes, older homes, and brand new builds.  I just love to tour homes and see what people have done in their homes.  If you have a log home, a barn or live in an old school house, have just built a home or have refurbished a foreclosed home, I would love to show your home. I love to do this with apples as well-just make sure you soak the apples in lemon juice to keep them from browning.

We do these type of pumpkins for our kids each year.  They each pick out an idea that they want and we draw it our and carve them up and they always look so great.

Country Living had a Good Housekeeping recipe for this Old Fashioned PopCorn Ball Recipe that looked good so I am sharing it with you:

Old-Fashioned Popcorn Balls
From Good Housekeeping
triple-tested at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute
INGREDIENTS conv. chart U.S. Metric
1 cup(s) pecans
1 cup(s) sliced almonds
1 1/2 cup(s) sweetened flaked coconut
16 cup(s) popped corn, about 3/4 cup unpopped kernels
1 1/4 cup(s) packed brown sugar
1 1/4 cup(s) dark corn syrup
6 tablespoon(s) butter, substitute margarine
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1/4 baking soda

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place pecans and almonds in 17-inch by 11 1/2-inch roasting pan; place coconut in 15 1/2-inch by 10 1/2-inch jelly-roll pan. Place pans on 2 oven racks and bake nuts and coconut 10 to 15 minutes or until toasted, rotating pans between upper and lower racks halfway through baking and stirring occasionally. Stir nuts into coconut in jelly-roll pan; cool completely.
  2. Line large cookie sheet with foil. Spray lined cookie sheet and same roasting pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place popcorn in roasting pan; discard any unpopped kernels. Sprinkle nut mixture over popcorn.
  3. In heavy 3-quart saucepan, heat brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to medium; boil 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat; stir in vanilla and baking soda (mixture will foam up). Pour hot caramel syrup over popcorn mixture. With 2 forks, toss popcorn mixture while hot until evenly coated with caramel.
  4. Working quickly, scoop up hot popcorn mixture by level cups. Place popcorn mounds on prepared cookie sheet. When popcorn mixture is cool enough to handle, coat hands with nonstick cooking spray; shape mounds into balls, pressing lightly so they hold together. Cool completely. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature up to 1 week.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading each and every comment. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I wish I could sit and chat with each of you face to face, sipping on an ice cold lemonade (in the hotter months) or a nice hot cup of coffee (in the colder months), getting to know each other but this is fun too.
