The Heart of OUR home
The heart of our home is in many places. As many of my readers know we left our home in the Midwest a year ago to move to Florida with my parents, while my husband was finishing up school. We sold or donated almost everything we owned to make the move less costly. It also saved us tons on storage costs. Thankfully he is just about done and will be putting in resumes, most likely moving and replacing everything in our home, from plates and serving bowls, to mixers and blenders, couches and chairs, dressers and beds, towels and curtains and of course appliances. The heart of our home does not rest in which home we live, but in our hearts. We are a family. We love to have dinner together and talk and laugh but it can be at home or on the beach. The heart of our family resides as we home school our children and teach them the values of life. The heart of our family is making special memories at every holiday. The heart of our family is focusing on others and the fact that so many have needs much greater than ours. The heart of our family includes the friends we have developed in each place we have lived. The heart of our family also wraps it arms around our loved ones who mean the world to us. Winning appliances would bless our socks off but I know it would bless the socks off of many of my readers as well and I want them to be aware of this event and the upcoming event, since this one is so close to the end.

Now I can never say -- I don't ever win anything. A couple of months ago I won a paperweight from one of my follower's give-a-ways and this weekend I received the Black & Decker tool from my sweet friend Roeshel at DIY show off. I helped her with her fun scavenger hunt and didn't do it to win anything, it was fun helping her out and participating. When she contacted me to let me know I won, I was shocked and knew Price Charming would be thrilled because I would have my own tools. Now somebody-Do you hear me Black and Decker?- needs to make some tools in girly colors and cool girly patterns. Can't you just see a Damask pattern, shabby chic with light pink and aqua and little flower buds, french fleur, zebra print, cranberry and navy with a patriotic theme, or how about hot pink handles?
Then I had a comment from one of my sweet gals congratulating me on winning this cute apron over at Kimba's. I hadn't been over to her blog that day so I went over and missed it so I had to go back again. That's what happens when you have 900 things on your plate all at one time.

The heart of my home would have to be my kitchen. It's a toss up between there and my family room; which has a large opening between the kitchen and family room. ReplyDeleteNot matter the home we lived in, the kitchen was always it's heart. Asa military family we lived in over 17 different homes. Some tiny, some were apartments, some we owned. Some were military housing. I could never really do what I wanted in any of them as we knew the next move was just around the corner. It is the memories made in these homes, the good smells, the laughter, the hugs...the sharing and caring. Sounds trite but it is SO true.
