First off, let me say this type of e-mail does not upset me in any way. I am really pretty easy going (I hope she remembers that about me and how FUN I was) and I need ALL THE HELP I CAN GET. I think it is sweet that she did not want to upset me. I do want to mention her e-mail, because it might drive you crazy and you might wonder WHY I home school my children and not know about contractions. No not the type of contractions that you have when you are in labor. Contractions, you know the ones you use an apostrophe when shortening a word like: will not is WON'T or should not is SHOULDN'T--wheh that really shortened that word and saved me from having to write an "O", although I did have to put an apostrophe in place of the "O" so it really didn't save me one little bit but hey the English rules are CRAZY and they break their own rules all the time. So I figured I could break them too. No not really that isn't why.
Now that you know that I am aware of contractions and know all about apostrophes, I can explain to you my logic, and if you ask Prince Charming he sometimes, thinks my logic doesn't make any sense at all. I debated for quite some time on that apostrophe--you know the one that is GRAMATICALLY correct in the word IT'S when used in the context IT IS. Have you ever noticed that it is missing in my title? Miss TCCS Anonymous did--well done Miss TCCS on acquiring a good education, listening in class, not chewing gum, conducting yourself proper at all times, attending all alumni games--oops I don't do that and I chew gum sometimes, AND NOTICING that my apostrophe was missing-hee hee!! Back to the debate over the missing apostrophe--I decided to leave it out, even though it BREAKS THE GRAMMATICAL RULES--you know why, because you can't use it in the URL and I thought it would be less confusing. I had a teacher leave me a message, several months back, telling me about it and so I did a poll asking if it bothered you and the overall vote was NO, some even liked it being different and wrong and others understood why I would leave it out, some had never even noticed it. No one else commented on it bothering them--So I left it. I hope it doesn't drive you nuts but just helps you remember me.
Thank you Miss TCCS, a lot younger than me ANONYMOUS commentor.
Here is the super sweet ANONYMOUS (still going crazy here) e-mail she sent
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Its So Very Creative":
Cheri,
You don't know me, but we have many mutual friends (TCCS people). I'm several years younger than you are. I was in elementary school when you graduated, but I've always known your name.
I stumbled upon your blog a month or so ago through your Facebook. (We have several mutual friends there.) I don't consider myself particularly creative, but I enjoy seeing other people's creativity! I bookmarked your blog and began following.
I know that you desire to make a business from this blog and hope to see it really grow. I hope that does happen for you! When you mentioned in this post that you were working on a blog header, I thought maybe you'd appreciate knowing something...
In "It's So Very Cheri," it's should have an apostrophe, because it is a contraction for it is. I hope it is okay to tell you. I thought you'd want that to be done correctly from the start!
I trust the Lord blesses your efforts here and uses them to help your husband and children as he pursues a new career path.
P.S. Please feel free to delete this comment. I don't have any desire to embarrass you--only to help!

Cheri-
ReplyDeleteI hope your commenter comes forward for ya. I think it was sweet how she put it.
I had a nasty email sent (anon, of course) about my writing style.
I try to write in a way in which I would speak, but apperantly, it offended her. I would love to say... then stop reading my blog... but, I can't reply since I don't know who it is. LOL
If I were to be writing a novel, or even pretend to be a writer, then perhaps I would change my style. Geesh! :)
Love your blog,
~Amy
Wow...some people just need a hobby!
ReplyDeleteI would say IT'S :) driving you crazy not knowing who that is. I know it drives me crazy when my Hubs starts to say something and then says "nevermind". I harass him for ten minutes until he finally spits it out! The not knowing drives me nuts! Hopefully she will let you know who she is. The new banner looks great and I like the title just fine! Have a great evening.
ReplyDeleteMy Mama always told me if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all. I think some people need to take a step back and realize that blogging is a creative outlet and should be fun and the little things don't amount to a hill of beans.
ReplyDeleteCracking up at this one Ms. Cheri! And you handled it with grace, but that's (contraction!) not surprising. I dread the day when I get the anonymous post about my grammatical errors, bad choice of words, etc. Unlike you, I'll probably throw a hissy fit! (:

ReplyDeleteYou are such a cute girl. I obsess over everything. I was afraid you had gotten another nasty comment.
Hope you are having a good week!
XOXO
