The baby gift

Sneak Preview:

Do you remember this?

I was working on it-as much as I could get done until the baby was born. I had roughed it up and repainted the entire thing white, then added brown to some areas, for depth, went back over it with more white, did a few other touches here and there, it was looking good. My niece wasn't letting anyone know the name until she was born so I was at a stopping point. I had everything I needed to finish the project but couldn't do any more.

We finally have a new baby in the family and I could finally finish the project. I have told you how I did everything so far but there is one special part and I won't tell how I did it. If you want one you will have to order one from me. I used 2 different papers on the background and had the ripped edges showing but then added more ripped paper to the end pieces (the rose paper). It just gave it more depth and character.
So here is what it looks like now. I just love it, how about you?

I will also tell you that I made my own lettering, covered the letters in ripped paper that all coordinated. I used 3 different papers on each letter. You can't really tell from this shot but I put the first name on those styrofoam sticky pads so it is standing up off the paper.

Here is the middle name in "champagne crystal ice". I created the recipe for it and it is a secret. If my camera wasn't messing up I could get a really close shot but of course my camera won't cooperate. It glistens so perfectly, like little diamonds. I love the color of the champagne ice crystals as well. I hope she loves it as much as I do.

I just love that "champagne crystal ice". It's more subdued than glitter but still catches the light. It looks more white in these shots but it really is more a champagne color. Did I say I love that champagne crystal ice?

And once again the final product...what do you think?

The next post is about our flea market trip. There is one from today and one from last night as well-so many fun pretties to look at. My head is still spinning.

  2. Hi Cheri! Thanks for stopping by! Let's see I was 9 when my dad was killed in the wreck but unfortunately I do remember it. Thanks for all your sweet comments! I would love to paint my cabinets but unfortunately I rent and white is the only acceptable color the land lord will let me use. I don't think white will work with my stuff so I've just left it for now. I have to really be in the mood for such a make over as that! The black and white was put up by the last tenant and worked so well with my reds! I really love it! It's behind the stove too. My Kitchen is minute and I wish it didn't have a olive green stove but the neighborhood is lovely and they are duplexes not apartments so the noise is to a minimum, and the dogs have a great yard to run in! In the city these days that is hard to come by. One of the big reasons I don't buy. I couldn't afford this area! Thanks again for stopping by! I'm a shopper like you, but you make lovely things also!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading each and every comment. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit. I wish I could sit and chat with each of you face to face, sipping on an ice cold lemonade (in the hotter months) or a nice hot cup of coffee (in the colder months), getting to know each other but this is fun too.
